Rose F. Yost, {Aunt Rose} 90, of Gordon passed into the Father's arms on November 17, 2023. Rose was born in Gordon on October 15, 1933 to parents Fred “Fritz” and Clara Snyder Fetterolf. She graduated from Ashland Area High School in 1951. In June of 1954 she married the love of her life, Elmer Yost. The couple moved to and worked in the Allentown area. In their 35 years of marriage Elmer and Rose traveled to many interesting places, took many photos always sharing their trips on slides with family members. Rose loved polka music and attended many polka dances where she danced and played her bells with the bands and became well-known as "Polish Orphan Annie". She wrote articles providing polka news under that pseudonym. Following Elmer's death Rose moved back to Gordon and was employed by Universal Forest Products until her retirement in 1995.
Rose was an active member of Simpson United Methodist Church, Gordon. Whenever the church doors opened you could find Rose there worshipping, serving on committees, and simply helping anywhere she was needed.
Preceding her in death, was her husband, Elmer, sisters Grace Nemeth, Fern Kaercher, Evelyn Irwin, Hazel Moser and brothers, Fred Fetterolf, Ralph Smith and Paul Smith. She is survived by her beloved cat, Buddy, sister Edna Labie, Girardville, nieces who were like daughters to her, Carol Fetterolf and Helen Ressler, her Goddaughter, Kathryn Rose Shatalsky, as well as many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and numerous friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Rose’s Life on Saturday, November 25, 2023, in the Simpson Methodist Church, 119 E. Biddle Street, Gordon. Officiating will be Pastor Susan Hocking. Visitation in the church will begin at 9 AM until service time at 11 AM.
