Ronald L. Klock, 71, of Market St., Ashland, passed away January 31st at the Schuylkill Medical Center, East Norwegian St., Pottsville. Born in Pitman, May 16, 1946, he was the son of the late Leroy and Grace Kehler Klock. He was a graduate of Tri Valley High School, class of 1965, and later a veteran U.S. Army Reserves as a Medical Corpsman stationed in Schuylkill Haven. Ron was employed as a truck driver for the former Ashland Knitting Mills, a construction worker for the building of the Hershey School, a fuel truck driver for the Ashland Fuel Company, and lastly for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections as a corrections officer at the Camp Hill Correctional Facility, and later retiring from The Frackville Correctional Facility after 21 years of service. Ron was presented the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections Award for Outstanding Performance by Governor Tom Ridge in May 1998.
He was a member of Zion’s Reformed United Church of Christ, Ashland, where he served as Vice President on the church’s Consistory and as Sunday School Superintendent. Ron was a life member of the Washington Fire Company, where he was past President and a fire truck driver, also a member of the Washington Fire Company Community Ambulance Association, serving as President and ambulance driver. He was active with the youth of Ashland, serving as a Little League Coach for the Dodgers and Astros teams.
Preceding him in death were brothers in law Wiley Houser and John Grant, a sister in law Joan Grant, and a nephew Todd Houser.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service, Saturday, 11 AM, in the Zion’s Reformed United Church of Christ, 2400 Centre St., Ashland. Officiating will be Rev. David W. Grant, pastor. Interment will be in the Brock Cemetery, Ashland. A viewing will held in the church Saturday morning, 9 AM until service.
