Robert E. Wagner Sr., 91, of Nescopeck, former Taylorsville resident, passed away October 27, 2021, at the Grandview Nursing Center, Danville. Born in Branch Township, Pa., May 6, 1930, he was the son of the late Homer and Thelma Lucas Wagner. He was a graduate of the former Hegins Township High School, class of 1948. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving as a seaman on the U.S.S. Tanner. Bob was employed as a coal miner for 25 years at area mining operations, leaving to be a Shift Supervisor at the P.P. and L. electric generation station near Berwick, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Nescopeck, Ashland Lodge #294 F. and A. M., Ashland, Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg, Irem Shrine, Scranton, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Schuylkill Forest #50, Loyal Order of Moose, Danville, Rangers Hose Company, Mifflinville, American Legion Post #273, V.F.W. Post #15040, Wyoming, Getty Lucas Amvets Post, Gordon, D.A.V. Keystone State #16, Rangers Hose Company, Mifflinville, Mainville Sportsman Club, Nescopeck Hunting and Rifle Club, Amateur Trapshooting Association, National Rifle Association, and a life member of the Lavelle Fire Company, Lavelle. Preceding him in death was his wife Joan Dechant Wagner, passing in 2017, and a son, Jeffrey D. Wagner, passing in 2017, also, brothers Lamar and William Wagner.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service with Masonic Honors Tuesday, November 2, 2021, 11: AM, in the St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1488 Zenith Road, Nescopeck. Officiating will be Rev. Oliver Brown, pastor. Internment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing will begin at 9:30 AM until service.
