Robert T. Snyder, 82, of Big Mine Run, Ashland, passed away, with his family by his side, Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the Broad Mountain Health Center, Frackville. Born in Gordon, June 9, 1942, he was the son of Paul and Grace Dornsife Snyder. He attended the former Gordon School, and was known for his welding talents. Bob fabricated and welded the rail cars for the Pioneer Tunnel tourist attraction of Ashland, and served as its Vice President on the Board of Directors for many years. His hobby was Trap Shooting at the Ashland Gun Club in Fountain Springs, where he was a charter member, as well as many area Trap Clubs. His knowledge of the Anthracite coal region was vast. Preceding him in death was a son, Leroy Snyder, passing May of 1973, and a brother, Howard Snyder, passing in October of 2022,

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life funeral service, Monday, November 11, 2024, at 11 AM, in the Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St., Ashland. Officiating will be Rev. Jeremy Smallwood, pastor of the Lavelle Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow in the Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs. A viewing will be held in the funeral home beginning at 9 AM until service. Bob’s family request memorials be made to St. Joseph’s Center Foundation, 2010 Adams Ave. Scranton, PA. 18509. The Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
