Robert John Harris Sr.

Robert J. Harris, Sr., 80 of Airport Rd., Gordon passed away on March 30, 2016 at his home.  Born in Frackville on February 12, 1936, he was the son of the late Charles and Bernice Kreiser Harris.  Bob attended Frackville High School.  Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marines.  After serving his time in the Marines, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1963 with the rank of First Class.  Bob married the former Edith M. Mervine on November 16, 1964, who preceded him in death on Dec. 6, 2006. 

He was of the protestant faith.  Bob was fond of all Philadelphia sports teams, and took pleasure in his trips to the casino.  He truly adored watching his grandchildren grow.  In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne, in November 1964; and a brother Charles Harris.

Son:  Robert J. Harris, Jr. and wife, Julia, Gordon

Granddaughter:  Nicolette Harris

Grandson:  Brandon Harris

Brother:  Thomas Harris, Gordon

Nieces:  Joann Bosco, Cheryl Harris

Nephews:  Bob, Mike, Charles “Butch”, Richard, Matthew, and Jonathan Harris

Friends and relatives are invited to attend memorial funeral service on Friday April 8^th 2016 at the Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St. Ashland at 7:30 P.M with The Rev. Jack Murray of Gilberton Methodist Church, officiating.  A visitation will be held from 6 to 9pm at the funeral home.  A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday April 9^th 2016 at 1 P.M at the Greenwood Cemetery, 501 Pine St., Frackville, PA.  Officiating will be Janine Lucas, Christ Servant Lay Minister.  In lieu of flowers, the family prefers any memorials be made to the Brandon Harris Muscular Dystrophy Fund, P.O. Box 162 Gordon, PA 17936.
