Mildred F. ‘Peggy’ DeFrehn, 89, former resident of Mahanoy City and the Weatherwood Nursing Home, Weatherly, passed away Friday, August 11th, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton. Born in Ringtown, December 9, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Amy Culp Beaver. She attended the former Ringtown High School, and had been employed as a Cafeteria Server for the Mahanoy Area School District until her retirement.
Peggy was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Ringtown.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Edward J. DeFrehn, passing on
April 8, 2017, brothers Samuel, Harold, Eugene, Allen, Clarence, and Norman Beaver, also sisters, Mae Onuschack, Helen Hutton, and Edna Reigel.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service, Friday, August 18th, at 10 AM in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Main and Pine Streets, Mahanoy City. Officiating will be Rev. Craig Zimmerman, pastor of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Ringtown. A calling hour will begin at 9 AM until service. Interment will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery, Mahanoy Township.
