Lewis F. Merwine, 78, of Barry Township, Ashland, passed away Wednesday, October 5th 2016 at his residence. Born in Barry Township, he was the son of the late Earl and Ida Yoder Merwine. He was a graduate of Tri Valley High School, class of 1956. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Army as a grenade and carbine expert. He was employed in area coal mines, most recently for Keystone Anthracite Mining of Girardville as a driller until his retirement.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Barry Township.
Preceding him in death was a deceased grandson, Shawn Speer, brothers, Palmer, Allen, Arthur, and Walter Merwine.

Six Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service, Saturday, 1 PM, in the Church of Christ in Christian Union, 952 Deep Creek Road, Barry Township, Ashland. Visitation with family will begin at 12noon. Officiating will be Rev. Raymond Clymer. Military interment will take place on October 18th, 1:30 P.M. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
