Joseph M. Rascavage Obituary

Joseph M. Rascavage, 88, of McKnight St., Gordon, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at his residence.  Born in Tamaqua, February 25, 1933, he was the son of Michael and Eva Zupersky Rascavage.  He attended Tamaqua Schools, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving at the time of the Korean Conflict as a master carpenter at the Little Creek Naval Base in Virginia.  Joe was employed as a welder at the New Columbia Joist Company in New Columbia Pennsylvania until his retirement.  He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Parish, Ashland.  His life memberships included the Bishop Schott Assembly of the fourth degree Knights of Columbus, Mt. Carmel, and the Ashland Elks Lodge #384. Preceding him in death was a brother Michael Rascavage.

Wife: Mary Barbara Kelly Rascavage, married 61 years


Daughter:  Catherine wife of Tom Kenenitz, Doutyville


Daughter:  Eva wife of George Jacavage, Elkridge, MD


Three Grandchildren:  Thomas Kenenitz and wife Brooke, Kelly Jo Clews, and Rachel Jacavage


Two Great Grandchildren:  Shaylee Mae Clews and Thomas Kenenitz III


Three Nephews:  Michael Rascavage and his wife Patty, Leonard Rascavage and his wife Cindy, David Rascavage and his wife Stacey


Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, February 21 at 11 AM, in St. Charles Borromeo Parish Church, 1100 Walnut St., Ashland.  Celebrant will be Rev. Brian Miller, pastor.  Interment with Naval honors will follow in the New St. Mauritius Cemetery, Ashland.  A viewing will be held Sunday evening, February 20, 2022, 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home.  Visit www.Fritzfuneralhome.com.
