Joseph P. Johnstone

Joseph P. Johnstone, 28, of Mahanoy Plane, passed away on January 28, 2016, at the home of Robert Paulukonis, Sr., Girardville, following a long struggle with addiction. Born in Belleville, N.J., he was the youngest son of the late William and Mariane Teresavage Johnstone, Sr. He attended North Schuylkill High Schuylkill. Joe enjoyed sports and was a diehard Washington Redskins fan. He loved all kinds of music and loved to read. Joe was great at writing poetry, and even had one of his poems published. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Peter and Marion Teresavage, Jr. Joe is survived by a daughter, the light of his life, Clarity Mariane. He is also survived by a sister, Jennifer Johnstone, Mahanoy Plane; a brother, William L. Johnstone, Jr. and his wife, Casey of Coaldale, and Godmother, Evelyn Leckner, Girardville, as well as a niece and 3 nephews. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking people to donate to substance abuse education programs.
