John W. Lawson Sr., 82, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday January 8th, with his family by side at the Shenandoah Manor Nursing Center. Born in the village of St. Nicholas, May 29, 1936, he was the son of the late James and Helen Yorski Lawson, Morgan and step father Russell Morgan. He attended the former St. Nicholas Elementary School, and later served in the U.S. Army as a field artillery specialist in Germany during the time of the Korean Conflict. John was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Ashland, and employed as a heavy equipment operator at the North Schuylkill Landfill until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on cars, cooking, fishing, and watching WWF.
Precededing him in death was his wife, Kathleen Heine Lawson, sons, David Lawson, in 2000, and James Lawson, in 2012, son in law Nicholas Zappacosta in 2017 also a deceased sister, Percilla Dysel and brothers, Francis, Thomas, and David Lawson.

Nieces and Nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service with military honors at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on April 15th, 1:30 PM.
