Jean McCord, 77, of Chestnut St., Frackville, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 11th, at her residence. Born in Fountain Springs, August 24, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Edna Carl Rhoades Sr. She was a graduate of the former Butler Township High School, Fountain Springs, Class of 1957. Following high school she graduated from the former Ford School of Business, Pottsville, Class of 1958. She was employed as a secretary in Washington D.C., for the Federal Department of Immigration, later at Zulicks Dress Factory, Schuylkill Haven, retiring from the Baltimore Life Insurance Company, Pottsville, as a licensed insurance sales women. Jean was of the Evangelical faith, and she was a member of the former German Eldership Church, Fountain Springs.
Preceding her in death was a sister Anne Weidensaul, a brother Elmer Rhoades Jr., and step brothers, Harold and Richard Geist.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial funeral service Monday, February 20th, at 7 PM, in the Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St., Ashland. Officiating will be Rev. Jeffrey Merwine, pastor of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Frackville. Visitation will begin at 5 PM until service. Memorial donations in Jean’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
