James I. McGinley, 83, of Broad St., Fountain Springs, passed away Saturday, September 17th at the Broad Mountain Nursing Center, Frackville. Born in Centralia, November 2, 1932, he was the son of the late Patrick and Helen Washeko McGinley. He attended the former St. Ignatius School, Centralia, and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the U. S. Army. Jim earned the Korean Service Metal, Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
He was employed as a welder and welding instructor for the Dana Corporation until his retirement in 1993.
He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church, Ashland, and was an avid sports fan, loving Norte Dame, Philadelphia Phillies, and the Philadelphia Eagles.
His memberships include the American Fire Company #1, Fountain Springs, Clover Fire Company, Mt. Carmel, Centralia Wilburton American Legion, and the Ashland Elks Lodge # 384.
Preceding him in death was his wife Elizabeth Heffner McGinley, passing in November 2003, and brothers, Patrick, Anthony, Charles, and Francis McGinley.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, 11 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 11th and Walnut Sts., Ashland. Celebrant will be Rev. Paul L Rothermel, pastor. A viewing will begin at 10 AM until Mass. Military interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Because to Jim’s love of dogs, the family requests memorials be sent to Mostly Mutts, 284 Little Mountain Road, Sunbury, PA, 17801.
