James H. Houser Sr., 81, of Brown Lane, Ashland, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the Lebanon Valley Medical Center, Cedar Crest, Allentown. Born in Fountain Springs, August 28, 1943, he was the son of the late John and Carrie (Gilbert) Houser. Jim attended Butler Township Schools before his career working in coal. He was present during the igniting of the Centralia Mine Fire, later working for the Tri State Envelope Company, Ashland, and then working as a roofer with his brother in law, Jim Fetterolf. Jim went back to Tri State Envelope, working there until his retirement in November of 2009. Jim, was a member Christ’s United Lutheran Church, Airport Road, Gordon. Preceding him in death was his wife of 52 years, Mary Fetterman, passing in 2016, Grandchildren, Seth in 2009, AJ and Alison in 2021, also a Brother in Law, Robert May Sr., and Sister in Law, Jane Fetterolf.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Jim’s Life, Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 10:30 AM, in Christ’s United Lutheran Church, 437 Airport Road, Ashland, PA 17921. Officiating will be Rev. Brian Beissel, pastor. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs. A viewing will be held Friday, 4 PM to 6 PM in the church, and Saturday, 9:30 AM to funeral service time. The family requests memorials be made to Christ’s United Lutheran Church.
