Glenn R. Zimmerman Obituary

Glenn R. Zimmerman, 77, of Beaver Dam Road, Ashland, passed away at his residence with his loving family by his side on May 27, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Ashland on May 17, 1949, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Elsie (Hoffman) Zimmerman of Helfenstein. He graduated from the North Schuylkill High School in 1967. Following graduation, Glenn enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. He was later deployed to South Korea during the Vietnam War. During his military service, Glenn was a Rifle Sharpshooter; he also earned a National Defense Service Medal and an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. After his Honorable discharge from the Army, he returned home and began work in the plumbing profession. In 1979, he began working for the North Schuylkill High School in the maintenance department from which he retired in 2009 as Head of Maintenance. In his free time, Glenn enjoyed hunting, mowing grass, and fixing thing in and around the house.

Stepson: Jeffrey E. Smith and his husband (Brian), Scranton


Sister: Barbara Fetterolf, Lavelle


Sister: Shirley Weinreich, Lavelle


Sister-In-Law: Penny Herb, Lavelle


Brother-In-Law: William Herb and his wife Karen, Lavelle


Granddaughters: Sydney and Zoey Zimmerman


Grandson: Caden Berry


Grandson: Samson Sobolewski


Nieces and Nephews, many close friends

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Celebration of Glenn’s Life, June 15, 2026, at 11 AM in the Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St., Ashland.  Officiating will be Rev. Brian Beissel, pastor of Christ’s United Lutheran Church.  A visitation in the funeral home will begin at 9 AM until time of service.  Internment with Army military honors will be held at Indiantown National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA. June 17, 2026, at 1:30 PM. The family requests memorials may be made to Strays No More, P.O. Box 114, Valley View, PA  17938.  The Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
