George A. Moyer, 88, of Fountain Springs, passed away surrounded by family, Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born in Shenandoah Heights, June 1, 1933, he was the son of Merlin “Fred” and Gertrude Hahn Moyer. He was a graduate of the former Frackville High School, class of 1951. George was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict, as a Unit Supply Specialist at Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky, and later as a Court Reporter in Japan. Following his military service, he began his employment with the former American Stores Company, later becoming Acme markets, retiring after 47 years, in 1996, as the store manager at the Pottsville location. In his younger days, he loved to play piano for the Jack Davis Band of Shenandoah, and he was the founder of the Broad Mountain Archery Club of Frackville. He was a member of the Christ Congregation Church, Fountain Springs, serving as past church president and board member of the church cemetery. George was an avid outdoorsman, teaching everyone he could to hunt and fish. His passion was Radio Controlled model airplanes, flying with the Tuscarora R.C. Airplane Club. Preceding him in death was a son-in-law, Jack Ashman.

Daughter: Barbara wife of Brian Rowe, Fountain Springs
Daughter: Janice Ashman, Brandonville
Granddaughter: Brianna Rowe, Frackville
Grandson: Tyler Long, Brandonville.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service with Army honors, Friday, March 11, 2022, at 1:30 PM in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
