Gene R. Klinger (Ace), 85, of East Biddle Street, Gordon, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, East Norwegian Street, Pottsville. Born in the village of Taylorsville, January 7, 1938, he was the son of Homer and Edith Reed Klinger. He was a graduate of the former Ashland High School, class of 1956. Following high school, he served in Germany with the First Battalion of the Seventh Infantry as a sharpshooter with the U.S. Army. His specialty was heavy weapons and Anti - Tank defenses. Gene was employed as a quality control supervisor with the former Goyne Pump Company, later ITT Industries, Ashland, until his retirement. In his retirement he drove school bus for Earl Richards Bussing of Gordon. He was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church, Gordon. Preceding him in death was his wife, Ida (Liz) McAndrew Klinger, passing November 25, 2001, brothers, Robert (Rocky), June 27, 2008 and James (Peace) 1992, sisters, Connie Hasker 1999, and Joyce Garipoli, 2002.

Funeral Service, with Military Honors, Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 1 P.M. in St., John’s Cemetery, Deep Creek Road, Barry Township. Officiating will be Pastor Susan Hocking of the Simpson United Methodist Church. Visitation with family will begin at 12 Noon in the cemetery.
