Gene Mull Jr. Obituary

Gene R. Mull, Jr., 65, of Chestnut St., Kulpmont, former Ashland resident, passed away Sunday, March 3rd, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by loving friends and family.

 

Born in Sunbury, January 12, 1954, he is the son of Gene R. Mull Sr., Sunbury, and the late Helen Hare Mull.  He was a graduate of the Shikellamy High School, class of 1971, and served with the U.S. Army, serving with the 5th unit of the USATC, Fort Sill, Oklahoma.  Gene was employed 20 years as the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Supervisor at the Pennsylvania State Correctional Institution, Coal Township, until his retirement.

 

Gene enjoyed traveling, especially to visit the ocean. He spent much of his time watching the Phillies, Eagles and Penn State football games. Mostly, he enjoyed spending time with loved ones. He will be remember as a remarkable husband, father, grandfather and friend.

 

Gene is survived by his wife of 34 years, Catherine (Kay) Heffner Mull, as well as brothers Charles, Keith, and Chris (wife Kathy) and sisters Angie, Dotty and Kathy (Gallent). Gene is also survived by 4 daughters: Crystal Ulrich (companion Brian Lawton, children Samantha, Seth, Ethan, Kelli and Alexa), Jennifer Rager husband Bob, children Ashley, Bridget and Cate), Jessica Mull (companion Jim Kessler, children Shyanne, Austin and Trinity) and Megan Godin (husband Jeffrey, children Brandon and Madison). Finally, Gene is survived by 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, 11 AM in our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 47 S. Market St., Mt. Carmel. Celebrants will be Rev. Frank J. Karwacki, pastor and Rev. Philip Burger of Good Shepherd Church, Camp Hill. Visitation with family will begin at 10 AM in the church until Mass. Military Honors will be held in the church at the end of Mass. Buriel will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery Lebanon, Pa , November 19th 1:30 pm, with Father Phillip Berger
