Elsie Docherty Obituary

Elsie Mae (Clews) Docherty, 87, of Ashland, beloved and adored mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on February 18, 2023, surrounded with love from those she cherished during life. Elsie was born in Fountain Springs on April 17, 1935, to the late Earl and Elsie Mae (Hornung) Clews. Elsie was a 1953 graduate of Butler Township High School. She was of the Evangelical faith.

She enjoyed gardening, traveling, spending time with her family, dogs, and thrifting. When she wasn’t cooking or preparing meals for family gatherings, she enjoyed dining at Cracker Barrel or the Dutch Kitchen.

Elsie was preceded in death by her late husband, Francis X. Docherty, and a granddaughter, Brandy Lynn Chuplis.

Elsie is survived by her children, Cynthia, wife of Paul Fedak, Vincent Chuplis, Theresa Kulbitsky, Melanie, wife of Jeffrey Harner, Jody Docherty, and Amber, wife of Christopher Wilson. Elsie is survived by six grandchildren Courtney, wife of Christopher Prosick, Kelly Kulbitsky, Jasmine, wife of William Milstead, Melanie, wife of Judd Luscavage, Lexis Harner, and Colby Harner. Elsie is survived by seven great-grandchildren Gavin Allen, Ashley Docherty, Kaylei Flaim, Elise, Isabelle, and Brett Wilson, and Ezra Shay.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Funeral Service, Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 11 AM, in the Barry Salem United Methodist Church, Deep Creek Road, Ashland.  Officiating will be Rev. Benjamin School, pastor.  Visitation in the church will begin at 10 AM until service.  Elsie’s family request memorial contributions be made to the Barry Salem United Methodist Church, 837 Deep Creek Road, Ashland, PA  17921.  Visit www.Fritz funeral home.com.  The Richard W.
