Dorothy M. Shadle, 89, of Lavelle, passed away Saturday morning, September 22nd, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born in Lavelle, February 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late George and Leona Banning Leach. She was a graduate of the former Ashland High School, class of 1947, and was employed for thirty one years as a Sub Clerk with the U.S. Postal Service in the Lavelle Post Office. Dorothy was a kind and loving women. She cared very deeply about her family and the people she served daily at the post office. Her dedication to her church, post office, and friends was unmeasurable. She was the mother of four adoptive children, always taking pride as home maker.
She was a member of the former St. Mauritius Catholic Church, now St. Charles Barromeo Roman Catholic Parish, Ashland.
Preceding her in death were brothers, Harlan and Donald Leach, and sisters, Rose Bogetti and Catherine Flannery.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service, Tuesday, September 25th, 11 AM, in Christ United Lutheran Church, 437 Airport Road, Ashland. Officiating will be Rev. Laura Csellak, pastor of Christ United Lutheran Church, and Rev. Paul Rothermel, Pastor of St. Charles Barromeo Catholic Parish. Interment will be in the Citizen’s Cemetery, Lavelle.
