Charlene Wolfgang, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away at 78 years old on Sunday, June 24th. She leaves behind an enormous legacy of love and kindness and will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
Born in 1946, Charlene grew up in Fountain Springs, Pennsylvania. She was known for her outgoing and friendly personality. After graduating high school, she married Arthur Wolfgang and raised three children. Charlene and Arthur spent 34 happy years together before his passing in 2000.
Charlene retired from the Ashland State General hospital, having worked in the Canteen, Switchboard and Registration. She also served as a Hospital Board Member. She is most remembered by many at the hospital for her smiling face and quick wit as she greeted them from behind the counter in the Canteen.
Charlene was active in the Order of the Eastern Star- latest as a member of Orwigsburg Chapter No. 424 and serving in various offices in Ashland Chapter No. 154, as well as a Deputy Grand Matron and as Grand Ruth in the Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania. Charlene was also active in Simpson United Methodist Church in Gordon, serving on various boards as well as volunteering in her community at the Shepherds Table in Ashland Pennsylvania.
Charlene was a shining light in our lives, and her absence will be felt deeply by her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Sabrina, Deryl, and Eric, her five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her Brother Asher Schoffler. She will live on through them and through the countless lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.
Charlene was a woman of deep faith, and she found comfort and strength in her belief in God. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Celebration of Charlene’s Life, Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 11 AM, in the Simpson United Methodist Church, 119 Biddle Street, Gordon, PA. Officiating will be Pastor Susan Hocking. A viewing in the church will begin at 9 AM. An Eastern Star Memorial Service will be conducted prior to the church service. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Simpson United Methodist Church, 119 Biddle St., Gordon, PA., 17936.
