Catherine Helwig, 93, of Catherine St., Fountain Springs, Ashland, passed away at her residence Sunday, May 21st.
Born in Doutyville on March 27, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Katie Heim Long. Catherine attended the former Gowen City High School. Catherine worked in various area clothing factories, and retired from the Fountain Springs Day Care. She was a member of the Christ United Congregational Church, Fountain Springs, and was active with the Ladies Bible Class for many years. Catherine was also a member of the Ashland Area Senior Citizens, and a life member of the VFW #7654 Ladies Auxiliary, Ashland. She loved her word search puzzles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Helwig, who passed away in 1994, a sister Edna Deloplane, who passed away in March 2017, and brothers Raymond, James, and David Long.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a funeral service at the Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre Street Ashland, 11A.M. on Wednesday, May 24th. A visitation will be held from 10AM until time of service. Rev. Jerry L. Conley and her nephew Rev. Allen Helwig will officiate. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery, Ft. Springs.
