Burdell Smith, 89, of Mowry, passed away June 26, 2025.  Born in the former Ashland Hospital, Fountain Springs, February 6, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Mary (Joyce) Fertig.  She was a graduate of the former Ashland High School, class of 1953, and was an active member of the Christ Independent Church, Lavelle.  Burdell was the cemetery manager, and along with her husband, Asher, were caretakers of the cemetery grounds at the Sunnyside Cemetery, Lavelle, for many years.  Preceding her in death, was her husband, Milton (Asher) Smith Jr., passing in February 11, 2015, also, Brothers Leon and Gene Fertig, sister in law, Kay Fertig

Relative and friends are invited to a Graveside Celebration of Burdell’s Life, Monday, June 30, 2025, at 11 AM, in the Sunnyside Cemetery, 259 Main Street, Lavelle.  Officiating will be Rev.
