Argia A. Yurenka, RN, 86, formerly of Preston Avenue, Girardville passed away early Sunday morning March 20, 2016 at Schuylkill Manor, Pottsville. Born on June 21, 1929 in Girardville, Argie was the daughter of the late Florie and Sophie Piccolo Panaccio. She was a graduate of Girardville High School, Class of 1947 and the Ashland State Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of the former St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Girardville, now the St. Charles Borromeo R.C. parish, Ashland. On August 1, 1959, Argie married Walter Yurenka, who preceded her in death in 1984. She started her 40 year career as an Intensive Care nurse in New York City, and retired from the former Ashland State Hospital. Argie was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Court St. James #1029, The Red Hat Society, and the Girardville Senior Citizens. Argie loved bowling, and took pride in her garden at her home, which was the family homestead where her and her siblings were born and raised.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 22, at 11:30 A.M. at the St. Vincent de Paul Worship Center, 2nd St. and Mahanoy Ave, Girardville, with The Reverend Monsignor William F. Glosser, Dean of Schuylkill Deanery, as celebrant. A calling hour will be held at the church from 10:30 A.M. until the time of mass. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fountain Springs.
