Albert Snyder Jr Obituary

Albert Snyder Jr., 75, of Wiconisco St., Muir, passed away Sunday, April 15th, 2018, at the Hershey Medical Center.  Born in Locustdale, November 18, 1942, he was the son of the late Albert and Lorraine Shields Snyder Sr.  He attended the William Tennent High School, Warminster, and later received an Associate Degree in Engineering from Drexel University, Philadelphia.  Al was a lifetime coal miner, surviving the 1959 Knox Mine Disaster, Luzerne County, and mining all his life, he last worked as a Fire Boss for the Lucas Mining Company, Spring Glen.

He attended St. John’s Episcopal Church, Ashland.  Active in Freemasonry, Al was a member and past master of Swatara Lodge #267 F. and A.M., Tremont, also Regal Council #65 R and S MM, Pottsville, Grand Council Allied Masonic Degrees, #265, Schuylkill Council, Griscom Royal Arch Chapter #219, Ashland, Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg, The Grand Council Allied Masonic Degrees Knight of the Red Branch, Penn Priory #6 Knights of the York Cross of Honor, Harrisburg, Red Cross of Constantine St. James Conclave, Council of Anointed Kings Prince of Peace Commandery #39, Ashland, PA Chapter Sovereign Order of Knights Preceptor #2412, Valley of Harrisburg Consistory,  a recipient of the Purple Cross of Honor with the Knights of the York Cross #1313, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Masons, Harrisburg.  Other memberships are the Short Mountain Conservation Club, Lykens and the Anthracite Joshua Association.

Preceding him in death was a grandson Robert Snyder Jr., passing in 2012, and a sister Laura Facer.

Wife:  Patricia Prossaic Snyder, married 44 years

Son:  Albert Snyder and his wife Monique, Ashland

Son:  Robert Snyder Sr., and his wife Pamela, Locustdale

Step Son:  David Klimowitch and his wife Victoria, Mahanoy City

Step Daughter:  Tina Bumbulsky, Mahanoy City

Step Daughter:  Mary Rose wife of John Sinko, Minersville

Brother:  Samuel Snyder and his wife Marie, Ashland

Sister:  Wanda Fishburn, Ashland

14 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial funeral service, Monday, April 23rd, at 7 PM, in the Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St., Ashland.  Officiated will be Rev. James Smith of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Ashland.  Visitation will begin at 5 PM with a Masonic Service at 6:30 PM.  Visit www.Fritzfuneralhome.com.
